Metallic Epoxy Flooring Isn’t the Best Choice

When selecting luxury resin flooring, it’s crucial to take into consideration the product’s durability, its aesthetic value and how well it will perform in the long run. Although metallic epoxy flooring has a beautiful and eye-catching metallic finish, it has several major downsides, which make it an impractical choice for residential and commercial areas with high standards. 1.  Scratches & Wear Prone to While metallic epoxy looks very good at the beginning, the high gloss finish is highly prone to scratches. The life of the surface can be reduced by everyday use, shifting furniture, and even the normal foot traffic, which may cause marks that are hard to remove. 2.  Due to Lack of Flexibility, Prone to Cracking Another disadvantage of metallic epoxy is that it is a rather rigid material. 3.  Yellowing & UV Discolouration Yet another disadvantage of metallic epoxy is that it is not UV resistant. Over time, natural light can cause fading, discoloration or creation of unsightly blotches especially in rooms with large windows, skylights or areas that are exposed to the outside. Polyurethane resin flooring does not have this problem. The UV resistant polyurethane resin flooring will not loose its color and will not fade away quickly giving it a perfect look for contemporary homes and commercial designs.
4. Colour and Finish: Unpredictable The big difference between polyurethane flooring and metallic epoxy is that polyurethane is mixed to a high degree of accuracy to provide a perfect finish, metallic epoxy is applied on site and each installation is different.
